Orange SA Fined EUR 50M for Email Marketing Violations

The CNIL imposed a EUR 50 million fine on Orange SA, France's largest telecom provider, in November 2024 for systematic failures in honoring subscriber consent withdrawals and right-to-object requests for email marketing.

Orange continued sending promotional emails to subscribers who had explicitly opted out, with some receiving marketing emails for months after unsubscribing. Approximately 4.5 million subscribers were affected.
